Wiltshire Black History

We are working as part of the SEEME Wiltshire Black History Project to research the early black presence in Wiltshire, that goes back to at least the sixteenth century. Maria Mandula a "Stranger and Aethiops" was buried in Calne in 1586. The SEEME project is also recording stories of elders in our BME communities today and working with young people and all our communities to explore and respond to those stories through film animation, drama, creative writing and other activities.
