WSHC Education Service

sheldon-boys-webThe Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre is home to the Wiltshire and Swindon Archives and the Wiltshire local studies library. The education service works with students of all ages, offering facilitated sessions at the History Centre or in school. History is just part of what we do. Discover inspirational resources for the arts, humanities, STEM subjects and English among the 13km of archives covering 800 years.

The service offers:

  • Research visits to the History Centre.
  • An outreach service providing school-based workshops tailored to student and curriculum needs.
  • Bespoke resource packs.
  • Free teacher development sessions to help schools make the most of the History Centre.

We also have online resources, including a schools' toolkit to support the development of an LGBT-inclusive curriculum, plus online materials for GCSE English Language (Studying Spoken Language), Black history and the Arctic Convoys of the Second World War.
